Samuel Jones Melvin was my great-grandfather.He kept a daily diary starting on January 1, 1861, when he was only twenty-two years old. He wrote in this diary every day for fifty-one years. His final diary entry was made on June 2, 1913, when he was seventy-four years old. This entry ends mid-sentence and was never completed. He died seventeen days later on June 19, 1913. |
