While attending Adrian College in Adrian, Michigan, Samuel took his Christian responsibilities very seriously.
When at home, Samuel writes of helping with the family farm and business. There are numerous entries in his diary that describe working the farm crops of wheat, corn, oats, rye, and tending to flocks of sheep, pigs, chickens, and cattle. Their mill also made coffins for neighbors and friends who passed away. These were days filled with hard work around the farm on dozens of tasks, as well as taking time for worship and Sabbath School on Sundays. This year contains only select transcriptions from certain days. |
